Jennifer Seilern:
Jennifer hails from Schomberg, Ontario where she developed her love for farming and open spaces on her parents dairy farm. She continued to the University of Guelph and received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a post graduate diploma in Agricultural communications. She met the love of her life Mathias at a summer job. He trained her to take his job as farm manager before he took off for adventure at a ranch out west. Alas not all was lost, they stayed in touch and the rest is history. As a fifth generation farmer Jennifer has farming in her blood. She is keenly aware of her responsibility to regenerate the earth so that five generations from now her decedents can still be growing amazing food. In her spare time she likes reading, dancing and eating, her claim to fame is that she has roasted a marshmallow on a forest fire.
Mathias Seilern:
Originally from from Stouffville, Ontario Mathias is a rare breed of first generation farmer. As a kid he loved animals and nature and his parents instilled in him a deep respect for food and those who grew it. These interests led him on many adventures all over the country, including working on western ranches, gold mining in the Yukon, a stint in the rodeo and finally to his true passion, – organic farming.
As a heavy equipment mechanic his skills seem to always be in high demand during the course of a farming year, – there is never a dull moment. In his spare time Mathias enjoys reading, falling asleep by the fire, playing guitar, drawing and most of all eating good food (with good beer).
Ronan Seilern:
Now promoted to the position of older brother and self proclaimed ‘big boy’ Ronan is well aware of his important status. At 3 and a half he loves drawing tractors even more than riding in them and will happily talk your ear off about the function of each piece of farm equipment. Dogs and cows still make him scream with laughter.
He loves a day on the farm with his parents but will happily come along if you happen to be on your way to the beach.
Dawson:
Dawson is an Austrailian Sheppard who runs Seilern Farm. Nothing escapes his watchful eye and he is often the first one you will meet when arriving. He knows his place within the pecking order of Seilern Farm and he is at the top. His favourite part of the operation is moving cattle to new pastures, he is a great help. He tries to spend as much time as possible napping in the garage and hiding his treasures around the farm.
